Ernest Shackleton

Anglo-Irish explorer (1874-1922). Ernest Shackleton conducted exploration in Antarctica. In 1914, he sailed to Antarctica on an expedition to cross the continent, but his ship Endurance became trapped in the sea ice and was eventually crushed. This began a long journey of survival across ice and ocean for Shackleton and his crew to reach safety.
